These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.

Thus says the LORD: Lo, I am about to create new heavens and a new earth; The things of the past shall not be remembered or come to mind. For I create Jerusalem to be a joy and its people to be a delight; I will rejoice in Jerusalem and exult in my people. (Is 65:17-21)

A new heavens and a new earth would mean nothing if God didn’t make us brand new too. And God chooses not to remember the past, but instead chooses to make us a joy and a delight. We should not confuse the Israel of the Bible with the State of Israel today. The Jerusalem of the prophet is not so much a place, as people. It is God dwelling with us. https://youtu.be/MGNU0Wz2ors?si=VIZawpCseJot-Mav
