These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.
Sunday IV, Lent, Laetare Sunday
Brothers and sisters: You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light. (Eph 5:8-14)
When Christ opens our eyes, we are called to be light in the Lord. But as the saying goes, there is none so blind as those who will not see. Lent calls us to see ourselves and the world in the Light of Christ. As Pope Leo suggests, those who start wars should make a serious examination of conscience and go to confession. https://youtu.be/Tr5XhaRaL0M?si=_pKpgJFRe0DzzbQr
