These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.

And I have not rebelled, have not turned back. I gave my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who plucked my beard; My face I did not shield from buffets and spitting. (Is 50:4-9a)

Today we have another of the Servant Songs that the church has always applied to Jesus. And of course, this is Spy Wednesday when the betrayal by Judas is front and center and is revealed in all the mini-betrayals we have committed in our lives.
