It is too little, he says, for you to be my servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and restore the survivors of Israel; I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth. (Is 49:1-6)
Peter said to him, "Master, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you." Jesus answered, "Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times." (Jn 13:21-33,36-38)

The four Servant Songs from the Prophet Isaiah are an essential part of the Liturgies of Holy Week. The early church saw their fulfillment in the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus. Peter’s denials deeply troubles all of us since we know that are capable of denying the Lord daily.
These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.
