These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.

And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Lk 11:1-13)

The teaching on prayer from Luke’s gospel is centered on the Lord’s Prayer. Like the first disciples, we too ask the Lord to “teach us to pray.” The Lord teaches us to pray to the Father, who gives good gifts. I will be traveling in the Balkans for most of the month of August: Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Turkey. We will also visit Medjugorje. Starting today, the Daily Reflection and the Orchid Ministry will be on break until the end of August. I will carry all of you in my prayers.
