These reflections are a result of more than 40 years of ministry as a Roman Catholic priest. Most of these years I spent in the Diocese of Charlotte which covers Western North Carolina. Now I am retired, and live in Medellín, Colombia where I continue to serve as a priest in the Archdiocese of Medellín.

Friday, Week VII, Ordinary Time

A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter; he who finds one finds a treasure. A faithful friend is beyond price, no sum can balance his worth. A faithful friend is a life-saving remedy, such as he who fears God finds; For he who fears God behaves accordingly, and his friend will be like himself. (Sirach 6:5-17)

There is an old hymn that sings of our friendship with the Lord, What a Friend We Have in Jesus. Our friends in life reveal to us the Love which the Lord has for each one of us. Many people see that friendship in the ministry of Pope Francis. We pray for his health and his ministry among us.
