When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. (Lk 2:16-20)

There is an overabundance of liturgical riches at Christmas: Vigil Mass, Mass During the Night, Mass at Dawn, and Mass During the Day. Of course, the liturgy assumes that the community will be celebrating at ALL the Masses. It’s pastorally wise to combine the gospel readings from the Mass During the Night and the Mass at Dawn. For like the shepherds we too must go to Bethlehem to see this Child that Lord has made known to us.
